What is the first thing that irritates you about Windows updates for your PC, the fact that each update needs a reboot to take effect. But Microsoft is now ready to end that pain point for users, by removing the need to restart the PC every time a new update is installed.

The latest report via Windows Latest suggests Microsoft has found a way to break this layer and offer seamless updates for its Windows 11 PC users. The company has found a way to allow system downloads and even apply the update, which is called hotpatching, as per the report. Microsoft has already tested with select virtual machines on its Azure server but it is mentioned that Windows 11 will also see the benefits of using this technology.

Traditionally, Windows updates often required multiple restarts, disrupting your workflow and testing your patience. With version 23H2, Microsoft has streamlined the process. Here’s how:

Windows 11 Incremental updates

Incremental Updates: Instead of massive OS upgrades, Windows 11 now delivers updates like monthly security patches. Think of it as a seamless, behind-the-scenes enhancement rather than a full-blown overhaul.

No More Nagging: You won’t be bombarded with constant restart reminders. Once the update is downloaded, it applies quietly in the background. No more abrupt interruptions during your work or Netflix binge.

Efficient Installation: The download and installation process is lightning-fast. Thanks to Microsoft’s optimized update technology, you’ll be up to date in minutes. Say hello to productivity without the hassle.

We’re not sure when Microsoft will have this rolled out for Windows 11 users and in what form, butit is good to see the company realise the need to simplify the update process, especially when it doesn’t have any major security patches issued.

But will this technology mean an end to constant system reboots for all Windows updates? It is being pointed out that the reboot-free updates may be limited to one in three months, which suggests only the basic updates from Microsoft will be allowed to operate in this fashion.

Windows 11 will also get further boost thanks to the AI advancements provided by Intel with its new Ultra processors and app developers sprinkling AI into their ecosystem. Microsoft is also offering Copilot on Windows PCs with a dedicated button mooted in the future models. The industry is excited about AI’s entry and how it is expected to revitalise the stagnant market, which we’re yet to see fully blossom in the near future.
