July 14, 2024: After inaugurating the Indian Newspaper Society (INS) Secretariat in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex the Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing the gathering at the state-of-the-art facility highlighted its role to serve as a pivotal hub for India’s newspaper industry, enhancing operational efficiency and fostering innovation within the sector.

In his address to the gathering, Prime Minister Modi he emphasised the indispensable role of newspapers in shaping India’s future, particularly in the journey towards ‘Viksit Bharat’ over the next 25 years. He commended INS for its longstanding contribution to the nation, highlighting how it has not only chronicled India’s progress but actively influenced public discourse.

“The media is not merely an observer but a catalyst for change,” Prime Minister Modi remarked, pointing to initiatives like digital transformation and financial inclusion that have empowered millions across the country. He emphasized the global impact of India’s digital initiatives and urged Indian publications to amplify their international presence to bolster the nation’s global image and economy.

Acknowledging the collaborative efforts between the government and media, Prime Minister Modi cited examples of national campaigns such as ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav‘ and ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ that have transcended political boundaries to become national movements.

“Today’s media must embrace digital platforms to reach wider audiences and drive meaningful discussions,” Prime Minister Modi urged, advocating for the use of technology to expand the reach of Indian publications in various global languages.
