Paris, France — In a dazzling display of synchronized diving excellence, Chinese athletes Chen Yiwen and Chang Yani secured the gold medal in the women’s synchronised 3m springboard event at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Their flawless performance across five dives left spectators breathless and marked China’s second gold in this discipline.

Dominance from Start to Finish

Chen and Chang, who have previously clinched three consecutive 3m synchro world titles together, set the tone early with a remarkable opening dive, earning a score of 52.80. From there, they maintained their lead throughout the competition, executing each dive with precision and grace. Their cumulative score of 337.68 points solidified their position atop the podium.

Silver for USA, Historic Bronze for Great Britain

USA’s dynamic duo, Sarah Bacon and Kassidy Cook (affectionately dubbed “Cook’N’Bacon”), put up a strong fight, securing the silver medal with a combined score of 314.64. Meanwhile, Great Britain celebrated a historic achievement as Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen clinched the bronze. This marked Team GB’s first-ever medal in women’s diving at the Paris Olympics.

Heartbreak for Australia

Australia’s Maddison Keeney and Anabelle Smith were in contention for a podium finish. However, a mistimed final dive dashed their hopes, resulting in a score of 48.60—just shy of the bronze requirement. Despite the disappointment, Keeney and Smith showcased resilience and determination.
