November 6, 2024: In an eagerly awaited announcement, the much-anticipated magnum opus Ramayana has revealed its star-studded cast, marking a new milestone for Indian cinema. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, this grand cinematic project promises to bring the age-old Hindu epic to life on the big screen with breathtaking visuals and an ensemble of iconic actors.
Ranbir Kapoor will step into the role of Lord Ram, while Sai Pallavi has been confirmed as his Sita, bringing to life the beloved characters from the ancient mythological tale. In a highly anticipated twist, Yash, the South superstar known for his role in KGF, has confirmed his portrayal of the formidable Ravana. Speaking about the character, Yash expressed his excitement, calling Ravana “the most exciting character to play as an actor.”
The movie, which is being produced by Namit Malhotra, will release in two parts, with Ramayana Part One slated for a grand Diwali release in 2026, followed by Part Two in 2027. Namit took to Instagram to share the first glimpse of the film’s poster, which features a dramatic image of an arrow set against a fiery sky.
Alongside the poster, he shared a heartfelt message, stating, “More than a decade ago, I embarked on a noble quest to bring this epic that has ruled billions of hearts for over 5,000 years to the big screen. Today, I am thrilled to see it taking shape beautifully.”
He further added, “Join us as we fulfill our dream of bringing our greatest epic to life with pride and reverence… Part 1 in Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027.”
The film has generated massive excitement among fans, with many expressing their enthusiasm on social media. One fan commented, “The most awaited Magnum Opus—so excited” Another user wrote, “Super duper excited. Best of luck to Namit Malhotra and the team!”
In addition to Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash, Ramayana will feature several notable actors in key roles. Lara Dutta will portray Kaikeyi, the queen whose actions set the stage for Ram’s exile, while Sunny Deol will take on the role of the mighty Hanuman. Sheeba Chaddha will appear as Manthara, the hunchbacked maid who plays a crucial role in the narrative.
A leaked photo from the set earlier this year, showing Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi in their traditional costumes, had already sparked intense speculation and excitement among fans. The image went viral, further fueling anticipation for the film.
Yash, who has emerged as one of the biggest stars in Indian cinema after the success of KGF, recently discussed his role in an interview with Namit Malhotra, sharing insights into his approach to the character of Ravana.
“If the character is treated like a character… if this doesn’t happen today, then the film won’t happen. To make a film with that kind of budget, you need actors who are willing to work together for the project. It has to be beyond stardom. The vision of the project comes first,” Yash said, emphasizing the collaborative effort required for such a grand production.
With a stellar cast, an acclaimed director, and a story that resonates deeply with millions around the world, Ramayana is poised to be a game-changer for Indian cinema. As fans eagerly await its release, expectations are sky-high for what promises to be one of the biggest cinematic spectacles in recent memory.
