July 14, 2026: Jr. NTR has once again found himself at the centre of political speculation after reports suggested that the actor could make a major announcement during an event in Tirupati on July 18. The rumours spread rapidly on social media, with many linking the programme to a possible political debut.
Putting an end to the speculation, the actor’s team has clarified that the event is purely related to the #OoruVaada social initiative and has nothing to do with politics. According to those close to the actor, the programme was planned well in advance and should not be interpreted as the launch of a political journey.
The clarification comes after the rumours gained momentum online, with several social media users drawing comparisons between Jr. NTR and Tamil actor Vijay, who recently stepped into active politics.
While the latest reports have been denied, this is far from the first time Jr. NTR’s name has been linked to politics.
The RRR star comes from one of Andhra Pradesh’s most influential political families. He is the grandson of N.T. Rama Rao, the legendary actor who founded the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and later served as the state’s Chief Minister. His father, the late Nandamuri Harikrishna, was a senior TDP leader and Rajya Sabha member, while his uncle, Nandamuri Balakrishna, continues to be an active politician and MLA.
Jr. NTR’s Team Responds as Political Buzz Around July 18 Event Grows
Jr. NTR himself had a brief but high-profile political outing in 2009 when he campaigned extensively for the TDP during the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. His energetic speeches and ability to connect with crowds made him one of the campaign’s biggest attractions, leading to widespread speculation that politics could eventually become his next destination.
Instead, the actor chose to focus on his film career, going on to become one of Telugu cinema’s biggest stars. Even so, discussions about his possible political entry have resurfaced repeatedly over the years, especially during significant political developments in Andhra Pradesh.
Political observers often note that Jr. NTR‘s immense popularity, strong public connect and family legacy naturally make him a recurring subject of political debate. Yet, despite the speculation, the actor has consistently stayed away from active politics.
For now, his team insists there is no political message behind the July 18 programme. The focus, they say, remains firmly on the #OoruVaada initiative, while Jr. NTR continues work on his upcoming films with directors Prashanth Neel and Trivikram Srinivas.
Whether the actor will eventually enter politics remains an open question. But if recent events are any indication, even a non-political appearance is enough to reignite the conversation.
