May 9, 2024: New Delhi: Air India Express, a subsidiary of Tata Group, has taken decisive measures against approximately 30 of its employees for their reported absence on Wednesday under the pretext of sick leave. This collective absenteeism resulted in the cancellation of more than 90 flights, creating considerable inconvenience for passengers and disrupting the airline’s operational schedule.

The termination of 30 employees may lead to further disruptions and strain relations between management and staff.
The airline’s decision will likely be closely scrutinized, and its effectiveness in resolving the crisis remains uncertain.
In summary, Air India Express faces a delicate balancing act: addressing operational disruptions while maintaining employee

The events transpired when a substantial portion of the cabin crew failed to report for duty, citing illness as the reason. The Air India Express administration interpreted this occurrence as a pre-planned and coordinated attempt to evade work without valid justification. Consequently, Air India Express opted to terminate the employment of the implicated individuals.

In response to the mass sick leave, the airline terminated the services of these crew members with immediate effect.

The abrupt cancellation of numerous flights due to the shortage of crew members caused significant inconvenience to travelers, resulting in disruptions to their travel plans. The termination notices issued to the employees underscored the gravity of their actions and the adverse effects on the airline’s functioning.

Air India Express has taken disciplinary action against approximately 30 employees who called in sick, leading to the cancellation of over 90 flights. The airline management perceives this as a deliberate act of absenteeism, causing notable disruption to passenger services and operational efficiency.

While the airline’s stern action aims to restore normal operations, it also raises questions about employee morale and the impact on passenger services.
