Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today dedicated to the nation the Ayodhya Airport, now officially named Maharishi Valmiki International Airport.

This inauguration of the Maharshi Valmiki Airport marks a significant milestone in connecting India’s cultural heritage with modern aviation infrastructure.

Expressing his elation, the Prime Minister highlighted the profound connection between Maharishi Valmiki’s Ramayana and the revered city of Ayodhya.

He emphasized that the teachings of Maharishi Valmiki through the Ramayana serve as a path to knowledge, deeply intertwining with the essence of Shri Ram.

“Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in modern India will not just link us physically to Ayodhya Dham and the magnificent new Ram temple but also symbolizes our spiritual and historical roots,” the Prime Minister remarked during a public event following the inauguration.

The airport, developed in two phases, initially accommodates up to 10 lakh passengers annually and is envisioned to handle 60 lakh commuters after the second phase.

Maharishi Valmiki International Airport Phase 1 costed Rs.1450 Cr

Phase 1, constructed at a cost exceeding Rs 1450 crore, boasts a state-of-the-art terminal building spanning 6500 sqm, designed to cater to the needs of passengers.

Notably, the terminal building’s architecture resonates with the upcoming Shri Ram Mandir of Ayodhya, adorned with local art, paintings, and murals depicting the life of Bhagwan Shri Ram. Moreover, the airport showcases a commitment to sustainability with features such as an insulated roofing system, LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, fountains, water treatment, sewage treatment plants, and a solar power plant, aligning with GRIHA’s 5-star ratings.

This development is expected to significantly enhance regional connectivity, fostering a substantial boost in tourism, business activities, and employment opportunities. The integration of traditional art and modern amenities is set to offer travelers a unique experience while showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Ayodhya.

The inauguration of the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport stands as a testament to India’s commitment to preserving its cultural legacy while embracing technological advancements, bridging the gap between the past and the future.
