December 24, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday highlighted a key milestone in India’s space programme after the successful launch of the LVM3-M6 mission, which placed the BlueBird Block-2 spacecraft of the United States into its designated orbit. The mission marked the heaviest satellite ever launched from Indian soil, underscoring the growing maturity of the country’s heavy-lift launch capabilities.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister described the achievement as an important step for India’s space sector and its expanding presence in the global commercial launch market.

“It strengthens India’s heavy-lift launch capability and reinforces our growing role in the global commercial launch market. This is also reflective of our efforts towards an Aatmanirbhar Bharat,” he said.

The Prime Minister congratulated scientists and engineers associated with the mission, acknowledging their contribution to advancing India’s space ambitions.

“Congratulations to our hardworking space scientists and engineers. India continues to soar higher in the world of space!” Modi added.

The LVM3, also known as Gaganyaan-class launch vehicle, has been positioned as India’s primary heavy-lift rocket. Its ability to deploy large payloads for both domestic and international customers is expected to support India’s ambitions in commercial launches, human spaceflight, and strategic space missions.
