September 30, 2025: New Delhi : A new diplomatic effort to end the war in Gaza has drawn measured responses from world leaders after US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu jointly endorsed a 20-point Gaza peace framework. The plan, which includes a ceasefire, hostage exchange, phased Israeli withdrawal, and Hamas disarmament, was unveiled at the White House earlier this week.
While the proposal has yet to receive formal acceptance from Hamas, several governments have expressed support for the initiative’s intent and structure.
World Leaders React to US-Israel Gaza Peace Framework
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his X said – We welcome President Donald J. Trump’s announcement of a comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict. It provides a viable pathway to long term and sustainable peace, security and development for the Palestinian and Israeli people, as also for the larger West Asian region. We hope that all concerned will come together behind President Trump’s initiative and support this effort to end conflict and secure peace.
French President Emmanuel Macron urged both sides to act decisively, emphasizing the urgency of releasing hostages and restoring stability. Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni described the plan as a potential turning point, citing its humanitarian provisions and pathway to reconstruction.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called for unity, encouraging all parties to work with the US administration to finalize the agreement. Germany’s Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul echoed similar sentiments, noting the plan’s potential to alleviate suffering in Gaza.
A joint statement from several Arab and Muslim nations, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Egypt, praised the US leadership and outlined conditions for engagement, such as unrestricted aid and full Israeli withdrawal.
European Council President Antonio Costa urged all stakeholders to seize the moment and give peace a genuine chance.
Despite the diplomatic momentum, uncertainty remains over Hamas’s response. Trump has stated that if the group rejects the plan, Israel will have full US backing to act independently.
