Two important additions are being developed by WhatsApp and will be released soon. “Message yourself” and “display of profile images in group conversations” are these features.
While the ability to message oneself is provided by the “message yourself” feature, the “display of profile photos in group chats” option will display the user’s WhatsApp profile DP (display photo) anytime they message another user in a group chat.
It should be noted that Telegram already has a function called “Saved Messages” that enables users to send messages to themselves and save them for later use.
WhatsApp is reportedly handing out the “message with oneself” functionality to some beta testers, according to WABetaInfo. It’s important to remember that sending messages to your own phone number has always been an option, but doing so required users to save their number and then select WhatsApp from the phone’s contacts list.
However, neither the WhatsApp web browser nor the WhatsApp desktop client could access photos sent to one’s own WhatsApp number. Once WhatsApp introduces the “message yourself” option, users might be able to utilise it on the WhatsApp desktop and browser applications as well.

Additionally, a future update of the Android app is anticipated to add the WhatsApp user’s number to your contacts list, making it simpler for users to access their own chat. One’s phone number is not currently displayed in their contacts list.
In a group discussion, WhatsApp is also trying to display the profile images of group members next to their chat bubbles. Some beta testers are receiving this feature through WhatsApp. The DP of the message sender will be visible in the chat bubble whenever this feature is made available to the general public. The image of the message sender is displayed next to their chats in a manner similar to the Facebook Messenger feature.
