Director Vijay’s latest action-packed film, Mission Chapter 1, starring Arun Vijay and Amy Jackson may not start off with all guns blazing, but it certainly has heart, emotions and viewer engaging character. The story follows Gunasekar, or Guna, played by Arun Vijay, a father who will stop at nothing to save his seriously ill daughter, Sana.
In a race against time, Guna sells off his belongings and heads to London for his daughter’s operation. However, fate has other plans for him as he lands in prison after a scuffle. The film’s story is predictable, but Vijay’s direction keeps the audience engaged.
The film’s biggest low is the invincibility of the protagonist. Guna seems to know the solutions to problems before they even arise, making the story less believable. However, Arun Vijay’s sincere and focused performance, especially in the action sequences, makes up for it. Amy Jackson and Nimisha Sajayan also deliver decent performances, but the real standout is child artiste Iyal.
Mission Chapter 1 – Arun Vijay Amy Jackson, Iyal delivers perfect chemistry
Mission: Chapter 1’s sub-plots about a terrorist organization, moles in the police force, and a cunning hospital janitor take away from the core tale. The film’s narrative inside the hospital and prison hold mild interest, but there’s not enough time to explore them fully. The film’s music score by GV Prakash elevates the action, and Sandeep Vijay’s frames keep up with the pace.
Mission Chapter 1 is a predictable but a fine action thriller that showcases a father’s determination to save his daughter. The film’s thrilling action sequences and well-staged prison scenes make it worth a watch.
