September 16, 2025: New Delhi, India: In her first public appearance since the passing of her husband, Sunjay Kapur, Priya Sachdev Kapur made a bold move into the heart of India’s auto industry by attending the ACMA Annual Convention in Delhi. The event marked a significant step in her career as she was inducted into the ACMA Executive Committee for 2025-26, a prestigious role that ties her to the business legacy of her late husband.
While Priya’s career takes flight, it also finds itself under the shadow of a high-profile legal battle over Sunjay Kapur’s estate. His children, Samaira and Kiaan, from his previous marriage to actress Karisma Kapoor, have filed a lawsuit challenging the validity of his will. They allege that Priya altered the document to cut them out of their inheritance.
At the ACMA Annual Convention held in Delhi on Friday, Priya not only made her first public appearance since Sunjay’s death, but also solidified her professional role. Alongside her position as Director at Aureus Investment (AIPL), Priya was recently appointed as the non-executive director and chairperson of the CSR committee at Sona Comstar, a company co-founded by Sunjay Kapur. Her induction into ACMA’s Executive Committee places her in an influential position in one of India’s most dynamic industries, signaling her commitment to carrying forward her husband’s legacy in the automotive sector.
While Priya’s professional future seems secure, she is currently embroiled in a legal tussle with Sunjay’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, who have accused her of altering their father’s will. The dispute began after Priya presented a new will at a family meeting on July 30, which the children claim was forged. The lawsuit filed in the Delhi High Court alleges that Sunjay Kapur had promised his children a share of his vast estate, but the final will presented by Priya excludes them.
Karisma Kapoor, their mother, is acting as their legal guardian in the proceedings. The Delhi High Court recently ruled that Priya must list all of Sunjay’s assets, both movable and immovable, as part of the ongoing legal scrutiny. The next hearing is scheduled for October 9, 2025.
Priya Sachdev’s Growing Influence in Business
Amid the ongoing legal dispute, Priya Sachdev’s new role at ACMA is a significant step in her professional evolution. As she balances business ambitions with personal challenges, her involvement in the auto industry is being closely watched. With Sunjay Kapur’s legacy at the core of Sona Comstar, Priya now finds herself not only managing his legacy but potentially steering it into new horizons.
Her growing influence in the automotive sector, combined with her strategic position at ACMA and Sona Comstar, underscores her desire to continue her late husband’s work while navigating the complexities of her personal life.
