Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer Sooryavanshi will open in theaters on Friday. The post diwali film, earlier scheduled for a release in 2020, was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
This roll over of release allowed the makers of the film to work on it more in detail and hone its plot line as well as fine-tune its casting choices – giving this one a much needed edge over other films releasing during the diwali festive days.
Sooryavanshi is the third film in the Rohit Shetty cop universe, following his movies starring Ajosh Devgn in Singham and Ranveer Singh in Simmba. Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh make cameo appearances in the film.
As the trailer suggests, the film follows Sooryavanshi as he tries to stop a terrorist group from attacking Mumbai.. One of the characters in the film mentions during the 1993 Bombay bombings, 1 ton of RDX was brought into Mumbai with only 400 kilos used and 600 remaining. The story goes to find out where it is buried…
The film’s supporting cast also features Jaaved Jaaferi, Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh, Jackie Shroff, Sikander Kher, Niketan Dheer, Rajendra Gupta and Kumud Mishra.
The makers of the film have released few songs from the upcoming album so far and they’ve been receiving good response. The tracks ‘Aila Re Aillaa’, ‘Mere Yaaraa’ and ‘Najaa’ are available online right now.
