Bangladesh vs England T20I series latest update: Bangladesh achieved a historic feat by whitewashing England 3-0 in the T20I series with a 16-run victory in the third and final match in Dhaka on Tuesday. Litton Das and Taskin Ahmed were the heroes for the hosts, who outplayed the reigning T20 World Cup champions in all departments.

Batting first, Bangladesh posted a competitive total of 158/4, thanks to Litton Das’s brilliant knock of 69 off 49 balls. The opener smashed seven fours and three sixes and shared a 97-run stand with Najmul Hossain Shanto (47 off 37 balls) for the second wicket. England’s bowlers struggled to contain Bangladesh’s batsmen, who scored at a healthy rate throughout their innings.

In reply, England got off to a solid start as Jos Buttler (39 off 28 balls) and Dawid Malan (50 off 40 balls) added 100 runs for the second wicket. However, once Buttler fell to Taskin Ahmed in the 13th over, England suffered a dramatic collapse and lost six wickets for just 42 runs. Taskin Ahmed was superb with his pace and variations, picking up four wickets for just 23 runs in his four overs. He was well supported by Shakib Al Hasan (2/25) and Mohammad Saifuddin (2/30), who bowled tight spells and kept England under pressure.

England could only manage to reach 142/8 in their allotted overs, falling short of Bangladesh’s target by 16 runs. This was Bangladesh’s first ever T20I series win over England and their first ever whitewash over any team other than Zimbabwe. It was also England’s first T20I series loss since February last year when they lost to South Africa.

Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan was delighted with his team’s performance and praised Litton Das and Taskin Ahmed for their match-winning contributions. He also thanked the fans for their support throughout the series.

Bangladesh vs England T20I series: Taskin Ahmed takes crucial wickets to help his country win

“It feels great to win this series against such a strong team like England. We played really well as a unit and showed our character. Litton Das batted brilliantly today and gave us a good platform. Taskin Ahmed bowled his heart out and took crucial wickets at crucial times. I am very proud of my team and I want to thank all our fans who came to support us,” Shakib said after the match.

England captain Jos Buttler admitted that his team was outplayed by Bangladesh and rued their batting collapse in the chase. He also congratulated Bangladesh for their historic achievement.

“We have to give credit to Bangladesh for playing some fantastic cricket throughout this series. They were better than us in every game and deserved to win this series. We started well today but we lost our way in the middle overs and couldn’t recover from there. We have some areas to work on before we go into the World Cup later this year,” Buttler said after the match.

Litton Das was named as the man of the match for the Bangladesh vs England T20I series while Najmul Hossain Shanto was named as the man of the series.
