Sriya Lenka makes history as the first Indian K-Pop Star

    Sriya Lenka, has made history. The 18-year-old from Odisha, has become India’s first K-pop performer for Blackswan. Ms Lenka, along with Gabriela Dalcin of Brazil, has been chosen to be a member of the Korean pop band Blackswan.

    DR Music, Blackswan’s label, announced the news on Instagram. “After participating in the global audition programme for the last 6 months, Sriya and Gabi were eventually picked as members of blackswan,” DR Music stated in a statement.

    In the year 2020, Blackswan made its appearance. Youngheun, Fatou, Judy, Leia, Sriya, and Gabi are the current members of the group.

    Sriya Lenka was born in Rourkela in 2003, according to The News Insight. She has studied Hindustani classical dance as well as Odissi and other contemporary dance genres.

    “I had a hard time finding the perfect vocal coach because I had a deep voice. My grandmother assisted me in locating one “Odisha Bytes cited the adolescent as saying.

    “She arranged for me to have twice-weekly lessons with a Hindustani classical music master. However, I had to rely on web videos and self-study for the western songs “Sriya said.

    Sriya Lenka had won her place through a global audition among 4000 participants

    The Rourkela girl was selected last year among the finalists to train with Blackswan in Seoul. The hunt for the fifth member started after the group’s oldest member, Hyeme, quit in November 2020.

    In May last year, DR Music announced a global audition to replace Hyeme. Sriya Lanka and Gabriela Dalcin were the two chosen finalists from among 4,000 applicants.
