Probe Begins on the Baffling 11 Zebra Deaths in Bangladesh Safari Park
SHARE

Bangladesh Safari Park Zebra Deaths has turned a Mystery. The Bangladesh agency is investigating the baffling deaths of practically a dozen zebras within the nation‘s largest safari park, with officers blaming an inter-equine turf struggle and an unknown bacterial sickness.

Eleven zebras, together with a Bengal tiger, have died since the start of the month on the 1,500-hectare (3,800-acre) Bangladesh Safari Park, north of the capital Dhaka.

Before the 2 newest deaths last week, park chief Mohammad Jahidul Kabir stated 5 of them had died from bacterial infections and 4 others had been mortally wounded after preventing one another.

The case only came to light after a neighborhood lawmaker visited the park last week, pushing authorities to order a probe, whereas a veterinarian and two different officers have been relieved of their duties.

“We have visited the safari park to probe the deaths. We’re looking for the clues,” Sanjay Kumar Bhowmik, who’s heading the federal government investigation, told a news agency.

“We’ll ship the autopsy and viscera of the lifeless zebras…to high laboratories at residence and overseas,” he added.

The animals have been initially introduced from South Africa and the deaths have lowered the Bangladesh Safari Park‘s population of the zebras to 20.

The tiger died on January 12 and its loss of life was stored hidden for weeks by park authorities. It was segregated from the zebras and was not believed liable for any of their deaths.
