In a 4-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen on Friday, Jamal Musiala scored once and assisted on two further goals as Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich snapped a four-game losing streak and moved up to second place.
Prior to the crucial Bundesliga match against Borussia Dortmund next weekend and Tuesday’s Champions League group match against Viktoria Plzen, the Germany international put on an outstanding performance for a victory that gave the team more confidence.
“It’s still too early, in my opinion. We need to play more of those types of games before we can declare that we are back “said Musiala.
Bayern Munich Fans thrilled with a great win
“The team as a whole want victory today. Every single one of us was under pressure. We all exhibited today our desire to be the best. Bayern Munich constantly feels the pressure.”
Musiala calmed Allianz Arena tension by setting up Leroy Sane for their first goal in a frantic first minute as the Bavarians sought to avenge their previous defeat.
Throughout the entire game, the 19-year-old attacking midfielder terrorised the Leverkusen defence until scoring in the 17th minute following a one-two with Thomas Mueller and a little deflected shot.
He then assisted Sadio Mane in ending his goal drought of five games by finding the Senegalese in the box and helping him deflect another shot past Lukas Hradecky for his first ever home goal. Musiala now has five league goals and three assists.
When Hradecky stumbled in the box and the ball fell into Mueller’s path for Bayern’s fourth goal in the 84th minute, it was the cherry on top for them.
Bayern Munich now sits in second position in the Bundesliga with 15 points, two points behind league-leading Union Berlin.
