Dubai, October 7, 2025 : The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the shortlist for the Men’s Player of the Month award for September 2025, spotlighting three standout performers from recent international fixtures. India’s Abhishek Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav, along with Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett, have earned nominations following a string of impactful performances in T20 cricket.
Abhishek Sharma: Leading the Charge at the Asia Cup
India’s opening batter Abhishek Sharma has been named among the nominees after a commanding run in the 2025 Asia Cup. The left-hander tallied 314 runs across seven T20Is, maintaining a strike rate of 200 and notching up three half-centuries. His aggressive approach at the top of the order played a key role in India’s title-winning campaign.
Sharma’s consistency and attacking style saw him awarded Player of the Tournament. He also reached a milestone in the ICC T20I Batting Rankings, recording a rating of 931 , the highest ever in the format.
ICC Player of the Month Kuldeep Yadav: Spin That Delivered
Joining Sharma on the nominee list is left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who led India’s bowling unit with precision and control. Yadav finished the Asia Cup as the top wicket-taker, claiming 17 wickets at an economy rate of 6.27.
His tournament began with a standout performance of 4/7 against the UAE and concluded with a decisive 4/30 in the final against Pakistan. Yadav’s ability to break partnerships in the middle overs proved vital to India’s success.
Brian Bennett: Zimbabwe’s Run Machine
Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett rounds out the trio of nominees after a prolific month with the bat. Bennett scored 497 runs in nine T20Is at an average of 55.22 and a strike rate of 165.66. His performances spanned series against Sri Lanka and Namibia, and continued into the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Regional Final.
In that tournament, Bennett posted scores of 72, 65, and 111 in his first three innings, helping Zimbabwe secure qualification for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
