Police deputy superintendent The District Police Office in Doti’s interim chief, Bhola Bhatta, said that all of the fatalities were caused by falling pieces of the earthquake-damaged homes.

The epicentre of the 6.3 magnitude earthquake, which occurred at 1.57 a.m., was located in Nepal, some 90 km east-southeast of Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). For the past few days, the area has been witnessing quakes of smaller magnitude.

North India as a whole, encompassing Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, as well as Delhi and its suburbs of Gurugram and Ghaziabad, felt the tremors.

On Twitter, a lot of people posted videos of themselves and their neighbours huddling around their phones, racing out of their houses, trying to figure out what had occurred and where the epicentre was. In one video, a chandelier was moving.
