The royal couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will receive the RFK Ripple of Hope award on December 6.

One of the most esteemed human rights awards 2022 is being given to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. In recognition of their efforts to combat racial injustice within the royal institution, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will receive the Robert F Kennedy Human Rights Award, according to El Confidencial. The prize for “Ripple of Hope” will be presented to the royal couple on December 6.

During an Oprah Winfrey interview, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle alleged racism within the royal family. The pair explained in the interview the rationale behind their choice to discontinue their royal responsibilities, which they had initially announced in January 2020.

In a shocking interview with Winfrey, the couple claimed that the British Royal Family had been worried about Archie’s skin tone before his birth. As the first person of colour to marry into the family, Meghan is African American.

In an interview with the Spanish newspaper El Confidencial, human rights campaigner Kenny Kennedy explained why they are honouring Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

“They went to the oldest institution in UK history and told them what they were doing wrong, that they couldn’t have structural racism within the institution; that they could not maintain a misunderstanding about mental health,” Kenny Kennedy told the publication.

“They knew that if they did this there would be consequences, that they would be ostracized, they would lose their family, their position within this structure, and that people would blame them for it,” she added. “They have done it anyway because they believed they couldn’t live with themselves if they didn’t question this authority.”

Ripple of Hope Award winners Prince Harry and Megan took brace stance against the royals

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have won the prestigious Robert F. Kennedy ripple of hope award for challenging the The Firm’s “power structure”.

John F Kennedy’s niece Kerry Kennedy, who is set to host the awards, said the pair took a brave stance against the royals, knowing they would be ostracised as a result.

It comes after Harry and Meghan made bombshell clams about racism within the Royal Family during an explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The pair alleged a senior royal made a racist comment about the skin colour of their then unborn son Archie.

Prince William was forced to defend the monarchy after the interview, telling reporters “we are very much not a racist family”.

The Robert F Kennedy Ripple of Hope award have recognised outstanding figures in industry, politics, advocacy, and entertainment who have fought for equity, justice, and human rights and shown an unrelenting dedication to social change.

Volodimir Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, and NBA legend Bill Russell will also get honours at the awards event in New York City for their contributions to civil rights throughout their lives.
