Bengaluru, September 7, 2026: : Indian Planetary SpaceTech company Pixxel has raised $100 million in Series C funding as it prepares to expand its satellite constellation, Earth intelligence software and manufacturing operations.
The company said the round is the largest single funding round raised by a space technology company in India. The latest investment takes Pixxel’s total funding to $195 million.
The fresh capital will help Pixxel expand beyond its original focus on hyperspectral imaging and build a broader Earth observation business spanning satellite-based sensing, software and systems for commercial and government customers.
A key focus will be Honeybee, Pixxel’s next-generation hyperspectral satellite constellation. The company plans to extend its observations into shortwave infrared (SWIR) and add synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and ultra-high-resolution optical imaging. The first Honeybee satellite is expected to launch in 2027.
Pixxel to Scale Satellites and Earth Intelligence
Pixxel will also invest in Aurora, its Earth intelligence software platform, which is designed to combine data from different sensing systems and turn satellite observations into decision-ready insights.
The company is targeting applications across commercial, civil, defence and intelligence markets. Pixxel has secured contracts with NASA and the National Reconnaissance Office, while also winning multiple iDEX challenges from India’s Ministry of Defence.
Pixxel has also been selected to lead the development of India’s first public-private Earth observation constellation, comprising 12 satellites under IN-SPACe.
Over the past two years, the company has deployed six Firefly satellites, which Pixxel describes as the world’s highest-resolution commercial hyperspectral constellation.
Awais Ahmed, Founder and CEO of Pixxel, said: “Years ago, we set out to build a health monitor for the planet. Hyperspectral imaging gave us a fundamentally new way to see Earth. This new investment gives us the scale to turn that vision into planetary infrastructure. More ways of sensing, more intelligence from every image, and more sovereign capability for nations. Our goal is to make a changing planet understandable in time to act.”
Manufacturing will be another focus of the new funding. Pixxel plans to expand satellite production capacity in India and the US as it prepares for higher-rate production of advanced spacecraft.
Mark Boggett, CEO at Seraphim Space, said: “Pixxel is exceptionally well-positioned across some of the most important themes shaping the future of the space sector, from AI-powered Earth observation and sovereign space capabilities to the rise of India as a global SpaceTech leader. We’re delighted to deepen our support as the company continues to scale.”
The move marks a broader shift in Pixxel’s business from hyperspectral satellite imaging towards an integrated Earth observation offering covering sensors, spacecraft, data and software.
The Series C was co-led by Temasek and Seraphim, with new investors 360 ONE Asset and IMM Investment joining existing backers Radical Ventures, growX ventures and others.
