Indian Hockey sent the whole of India into a celebration mode, winning the first men’s hockey medal since 1980 ( 41 years after).
It was a fantastic turnaround, after being down 1-3 the Indian Hockey team maintained their zeal and focus to overcome the fighting Germany 5-4 in the end.
It was a spirited, nail-biting finish and the star of the game was the goal keeper Sreejesh who blocked the final moment German penalty corner.
It was jubilation all over at the Oi Hockey Stadium in Tokyo 2020 ! Germany collapsed to the turf in defeat, India in delight.
India have won men’s hockey bronze for their first medal in the sport since they took gold at Moscow 1980!
Simranjeet Singh scored two goals for India at the Oi Hockey Stadium, along with Hardik Singh, Harmanpreet Singh and Rupinder Pal Singh also adding their names on the scoresheet. The win also helped the Indian men’s hockey team end their 41-year medal wait at the Olympics.
