He was nominated for eviction five times, but each time he managed to avoid it.

The Bigg Boss Tamil 5 kicked-off on October 4, 2021 with 18 contestants. The final contestants who entered the house were Isai Vani, Madhumita, Namitha Marimuthu, Abishek Raja, Priyanka Deshpande, Abhinay Vaddi, Pavni, Chinna Ponnu, Nadia Chang, Varun, Imman Annachi, Suruthi, Akshara Reddy, Iykki Berry, Thamarai Selvi, Cibi, Raju and Niroop.

Actor Sivakarthikeyan attended the grand finale of the show as a special guest. He was present to announce his upcoming Tamil film which will be presented by Kamal Haasan. The project was announced on stage as part of the finale episode.

This was the fifth time in a row Kamal Haasan hosted Bigg Boss Tamil. When the show was launched in 2017 with Haasan as its host, it attracted the wrath of some fringe groups who were against the show, citing that it affects Tamil culture.

Soon after the protests, Kamal said in a media interaction that Bigg Boss is as necessary as cricket in India. “I’m not answerable to the people who filed the complaint. I’m not worried about the case. I have immense faith in law and in our government. I don’t think Bigg Boss is tarnishing Tamil culture. I have done kissing scenes in the past. Perhaps, they are seeking my arrest late.”

Kamal went on to add that the fringe group hasn’t watched any similar shows that are being aired for over a decade on Indian television.

During the grand finale of Bigg Boss Tamil Season 5, Kamal Haasan announced a brand new edition of Bigg Boss. Unlike the one-hour episodes, Bigg Boss Ultimate will stream on Disney+Hotstar 24*7. Fans will get to watch what is happening inside the house throughout the day.

In a statement, the Vishwaroopam actor said, “The first OTT version of Big Boss Ultimate is on Disney+ Hotstar. I’m extremely excited to continue staying in touch with you by hosting the OTT version as well. The new format is now available 24/7 to engage and entertain you more. I am 100% confident that you will find this whole new experience refreshing and interesting.”

Kamal Haasan also revealed that contestants who took part in the five seasons of Bigg Boss Tamil will get their second opportunity to win the title. Reportedly, Vanitha Vijayakumar, Julie, Oviya and Tharshan are some of the names which are doing the rounds.
