The Global Tech Summit 2023 in Vizag, which opened today in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, showcased several advancements and emerging technologies in pharmaceutical, educational, and digital health fields. The event attracted 400 tech leaders and 1000 delegations from 25 countries , among the highlights was the signing of MoU between NRDC and Europena Business and Technology Center (EBTC).

The summit featured notable announcements and partnerships, which can help in achieving global health challenges. The first-day keynote speeches included EduTech personalized learning, the impact of technology on telecommunications regulation, and drug repurposing focusing on neurodegenerative disorders.

The 2 day (1th-17th February) Global Tech Summit in Vishakapatanam provides a platform to discuss and shape the future of the technology industry. This event will be a part of the global tech summit series of events scheduled across the G20 nations, including Riyadh, Seoul, Tokyo, Rome, Paris, New York, Melbourne, Beijing, London, Tokyo, and New Delhi, throughout 2023.

Gudivada Amarnath, Hon’ble Minister of Industries, Infrastructure, Investment & Commerce, Information, emphasized the need to prepare the workforce for the changing demands of the job market, given the rapid advancements in technology, automation, and artificial intelligence. He stressed the importance of investing in education and training programs that equip workers with the skills they need to thrive in the digital economy and prioritize retraining programs that help workers transition into new industries.

Dr. Srinubabu Gedela, CEO of Pulsus Group and co-convener of the Global Tech Summit, announced that 400 international participants and 25 countries are attending, represented by a 1,000-strong delegation, including partners like the Pharmacy Council of India, the Central Drug Control Organization, the Finnacle Soft American IT Alliance, the Technology Information Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC), the Civil 20 group on technology, the Indian Pharmaceutical Association, the National Research Development Corporation, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the European Union.

Global Tech Summit 2023 in Vishakhapatnam draws big international participation

The summit brings together leading minds from the tech industry to discuss the latest trends and advancements in the field. Some of the speakers included Pragya Chaturvedi, British High Commission, who discussed Indo-British technical collaborations, and Dr. Sushruta Koppula, Konkuk University, Korea, who spoke about Drug Repurposing with a focus on neurodegenerative disorders.

Other speakers included Dr. Abhijit Ghosh, Assistant Drug Controller, Central Drug Control Organization, India, who discussed Biopharma Digital Transformation, Omprakash Nakka, CEO, Finacle soft, Inc. Director-Startups & Products IT serve Alliance, Inc of USA, who discussed Indian innovation and available global business opportunities, Prof. Pradeep Srivastava, Executive Director, Technology Information Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC), who spoke about Best Practices and Lessons Learned in Information and Forecasting and technology transfer to commercialization benefits through TIFAC, and Dr. Nava Subramaniam, National Coordinator for Civil20 Group on Technology, G20 India presidency opportunities.

In addition, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) conducted a Digital Bharat Session on “Embracing Technology and Empowering Society.” This session discussed the Government of India’s initiative to transform the country into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy, which aims to promote digital literacy, develop digital infrastructure, expand digital services, and adopt emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, blockchain, and the Internet of Things.

Ada Dyndo, CEO of the European Business and Technology Centre (EBTC), also spoke about the need for cooperation and partnerships between Europe and India in sustainable development, technology transfer, and innovation. In particular, she highlighted how European agriculture practices and procedures could provide valuable insights for farmers in Andhra Pradesh, India. EBTC also inked an MoU with NRDC to better collaboration in various fields of mutual interest.

At the summit C20 Group emphasized the importance of technology and transparency in achieving its goals. Technology can improve engagement with civil society organizations and make the process more inclusive, allowing for a more diverse range of perspectives. Dr. Krishnashree Achuthan, National Coordinator for C20 Technology, Security & Transparency, praised the State of Andhra Pradesh for showcasing C20 priorities. The C20 Group is committed to transparency through digital tools and platforms that provide regular updates and progress, making it a more inclusive platform for civil society engagement with the G20.

The Global Tech Summit in Vizag has set an ambitious target of generating 10 gigawatts of solar energy by 2022, and the city is becoming a center for renewable energy. The city is already home to the largest solar park in the country and has attracted investments from major players in the industry, such as ReNew Power and Adani Green Energy.
