April 18, 2025: Pinnapuram, Andhra Pradesh – April 18, 2025: Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy & Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Shri Pralhad Joshi, visited Greenko’s landmark Integrated Renewable Energy Project in Pinnapuram, Kurnool district on Friday, and praised the scale, speed, and global significance of the mega green energy initiative.
Touted as the world’s largest and first-of-its-kind gigawatt-scale Integrated Renewable Energy Storage Project, the Pinnapuram project combines 4,000 MW of solar, 1,000 MW of wind, and 1,680 MW of pumped hydro storage. With a 10,080 MWh per day storage capacity, the project will deliver dispatchable, carbon-free energy, powering hard-to-abate sectors such as green hydrogen, green steel, and green aluminum.
After an aerial tour and in-depth site inspection, Minister Joshi commended the efforts of Greenko Group and the Andhra Pradesh Government, noting that the project showcases India’s leadership in clean energy innovation.

“Witnessing an Integrated Renewable Energy Storage Project at Pinnapuram in action — the world’s first and largest of its kind, right here in our country — is a matter of pride and a shining example of India’s green energy potential under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” said Minister Joshi. “I commend the Government of Andhra Pradesh, under Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu ji, for its progressive policies that have made this pioneering effort possible.”
Mr. Anil Chalamalasetty, Group CEO & MD of Greenko, personally welcomed the Minister and led a detailed tour, highlighting the project’s multi-source integration and storage capabilities. He emphasized the project’s contribution to India’s energy transition, economic growth, job creation, and CO₂ emissions reduction — estimated at 3.3 million tonnes annually.
“This project is not only a global first in scale and integration but a critical enabler of clean, round-the-clock energy supply for industrial decarbonization,” Mr. Anil said. “Greenko is building a 100 GWh cloud storage platform across India to make renewable energy reliable and on-demand.”

The visit also featured a presentation on Greenko’s Intelligent Renewable Energy Cloud Platform, which, combined with India’s One Nation, One Grid initiative, is enabling the world’s lowest-cost production of green molecules, including green hydrogen and ammonia.
With a total investment of USD 4.2 billion — USD 1.2 billion for storage and USD 3 billion for generation infrastructure — the Pinnapuram facility is a cornerstone of India’s push toward sustainable, secure, and scalable energy solutions.
