Parakram Diwas is a day of national celebration observed on January 23rd, to mark the birth anniversary of Subhash Chandra Bose, also known as “Netaji”. The purpose of the day is to honor his contributions to India’s struggle for freedom and to remember his legacy.

As per the official release from the Prime Minister‘s Office, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil the model of the National Memorial dedicated to Netaji in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, which will be built in honor of the leader. PM Modi will also name 21 islands in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands after Param Veer Chakra awardees as a tribute to the brave soldiers of India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his message wrote : Today, on Parakram Diwas, I pay homage to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and recall his unparalleled contribution to India’s history. He will be remembered for his fierce resistance to colonial rule. Deeply influenced by his thoughts, we are working to realise his vision for India.

Subhash Chandra Bose ( called Netaji ) , often referred to as one of the most important figures in India’s struggle for freedom, is remembered for his leadership in the Indian National Army (INA) and his role in the Indian independence movement.

Netaji is quoted as saying, “Give me blood, I will give you freedom”, which continues to inspire people to this day. His famous quotes such as “Freedom is not given, it is taken” and “One individual may die for an idea, but that idea will, after his death, incarnate itself in a thousand lives” continues to inspire people to this day.

The day also provides an opportunity for the nation to remember and pay homage to Subhash Chandra Bose and his legacy. “Netaji’s contributions to our history are unparalleled,” said Prime Minister Modi in a tweet paying tribute to the leader.

Netaji’s legacy continues to inspire people from all walks of life. His leadership, courage, and sacrifice continue to be an inspiration for many. As we celebrate Parakram Diwas, let us remember and honor the legacy of this great leader. He also played an important role in the Indian National Congress and was a strong advocate of complete independence for India, rather than the Dominion status offered by the British government
