September 1, 2026: The Indian startup funding market closed August on a softer note, with 23 startups raising a combined $210.3 million between August 24 and 28. The weekly tally was down 9.8% from the previous week, when 19 startups raised $233.2 million.
The decline came despite strong activity across ecommerce and advanced hardware and technology. The two sectors accounted for four deals each and together attracted $108.4 million, or more than half of the funding raised during the week.
Ecommerce, Hardware Lead August Indian Startup Weekly Funding
The week’s funding activity was spread across early and growth stage companies, with investors continuing to put capital into consumer businesses as well as technology driven ventures. Ecommerce remained a key contributor, while advanced hardware and technology companies also drew sizeable rounds.
Among investors, Capital 2B and Equanimity Investments were the most active names during the week, participating in two deals each.
The Indian startup funding trend comes as the Indian startup ecosystem enters the final stretch of the year with investors continuing to favour companies showing clearer paths to scale, revenue growth and commercial traction.
Despite the week on week decline, the $210.3 million raised across 23 deals keeps funding activity at a substantial level, with ecommerce and technology led businesses accounting for a significant share of the capital deployed in Indian Startups.
