Today marks the final day for salaried individuals to file their income tax returns for the financial year 2022-2023, provided they do not require their accounts audited.
The number of income tax returns (ITRs) filed this year has surpassed 6 crore, exceeding last year’s filings up until July 31.
As of July 30, more than 6 crore ITRs have been submitted, with approximately 26.76 lakh ITRs filed on that day alone until 6.30 pm. The Income Tax (I-T) department reported that over 13 million successful logins were recorded on the e-filing portal until the same time on Sunday.
ITR Filing deadline ends today: IT 24×7 Help desk to ease tensions
To ease the process of ITR filing, tax payment, and related services, the I-T department’s helpdesk is operating 24×7, providing assistance through calls, live chats, WebEx sessions, and social media.
Despite feedback in community discussions suggesting that many people faced challenges due to floods and heavy rains, the finance ministry clarified earlier that there were no plans to extend the deadline for income tax return filing.
Consequently, taxpayers have until the end of the day today to complete the filing process.
As the deadline looms, taxpayers are urged to promptly file their Income Tax Returns and take advantage of the available support to ensure a smooth and hassle-free process.
