May 12, 2024: Kolkata Knight Riders’ batsman Ramandeep Singh has been fined 20% of his match fee for breaching the IPL’s Code of Conduct during their thrilling victory against the Mumbai Indians at Eden Gardens.
The 27-year-old admitted to a Level 1 offense under Article 2.20 of the Code and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction. While details of the specific offense haven’t been disclosed, Article 2.20 typically deals with actions outside the game’s spirit, such as damaging equipment or showing dissent.
“Ramandeep Singh committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.20 of the IPL Code of Conduct,” confirmed the IPL in a statement. “For Level 1 breaches, the match referee’s decision is final and binding.”

This news comes despite Ramandeep Singh‘s impressive performance on the field. He played a crucial knock of 17 runs off just 8 balls, helping KKR reach a competitive total of 157/7 in the rain-shortened 16-over match. He even snagged a vital catch of Suryakumar Yadav during Mumbai’s chase, further contributing to KKR’s dominant 18-run victory.
