Mumbai, India – In an incredible feat of endurance and determination, Krishna Prakash IPS, the Special IG of Maharashtra Police, has become the first person in the world to swim from Gateway of India to Elephanta caves.
Krishna Prakash IPS, who is an accomplished swimmer, decided to take on this challenge in the name of “Drowning Prevention Awareness”. He took the unusual approach of swimming against the high tides, from Elephanta caves to Gateway of India, covering a distance of 16.20 kms in just 5 hours and 26 minutes.
“I wanted to do something different and inspire young Indians to aim for an Olympic medal in the 10k open water swimming event. This expedition is dedicated to raising awareness about drowning prevention, and I hope that my adventure will inspire many to take up swimming,” said Krishna Prakash.
The swimmer, who is also an Arjuna awardee, trained extensively for this challenge and was well-prepared for the rough waters of the Arabian sea. He received support from the Maharashtra Police and the Indian Navy, who provided him with a safety boat and a team of divers to ensure his safety.
