Samsung has paused the rollout of its One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S24 series following reports of a critical software bug affecting device unlock functionality.
The update, which began rolling out in South Korea last week, was abruptly suspended after several users reported being unable to unlock their phones under certain conditions. The issue was first highlighted by well-known Samsung tipster UniverseIce, who posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the bug was affecting Galaxy S24 units running the official Korean release of the new software.
One UI 7 Pulled for Galaxy S24: Users Report Device Unlock Issues
According to UniverseIce, “the reason for the delay in the Galaxy S24 push is that users of the official version of One UI 7 on the Korean S24 series found that they could not unlock their phones normally in some cases.”
Although Samsung has not issued an official statement, the company appears to have pulled the update from its OTA (over-the-air) servers. Tipster Tarun Vats corroborated this information, suggesting the firmware has been removed while the issue is being investigated.
Sources suggest the bug may be specific to the Exynos 2400 variant of the Galaxy S24, although this has not yet been confirmed by Samsung.
The initial rollout was confined to South Korea, with a U.S. launch expected soon after. However, in light of these reports, the global release may now face delays.
Users who have already updated their Galaxy S24 devices with One UI 7 are advised not to worry. Android Authority reports that Samsung is actively working on a fix, and a corrective update is expected shortly.
