Viyona Expands UPI Switch Reach with Bharat Bank Deployment

Hyderabad, September 4, 2026: Indian financial technology startup Viyona Fintech has deployed its UPI Switch software at Bharat Cooperative Bank, marking its first live production roll-out as it seeks to supply core transaction infrastructure to mid-sized lenders.

The Hyderabad-based company’s system now handles backend transaction routing, real-time reconciliation, and operational controls for the bank, linking its core systems directly to India’s Unified Payments Interface network.

The launch marks a transition for Viyona from technology development and certification into active banking operations. The company plans to use the deployment as a reference case to pitch its software to other regional and cooperative lenders across India.

“Getting a payment switch certified is one part of the journey. Seeing it actually go live with a bank and process transactions is a completely different milestone for us,” said Ravindranath Yarlagadda, founder and chief executive officer of Viyona Fintech. “This go-live gives us the confidence to take the platform to more banks.”

Cooperative bank integration marks Viyona Fintech’s transition from software testing to live transaction processing

Viyona is positioning itself as a business-to-business infrastructure provider rather than competing in the crowded consumer payments market. Its broader product catalog includes IMPS switches, mobile banking platforms, and merchant payout engines.

The firm is betting on growing demand from cooperative banks, which face regulatory and competitive pressure to modernize their tech stacks to handle high-volume digital payments. As UPI transactions scale nationwide, small-to-midsize banks require backend systems capable of processing instant transfers, mitigating fraud, and handling continuous automated reversals without downtime.

“When somebody scans a QR code, they expect it to happen in seconds,” Yarlagadda said. “Behind those few seconds, several systems are communicating with each other. Our focus is on building that infrastructure and making it dependable.”

The startup plans to expand its engineering capabilities to build a full-stack digital banking suite, prioritizing system stability at Bharat Cooperative Bank as it scales its client pipeline.
