77th Independence Day: PM Salutes Progress, Pledge Support to Manipur

    Marking the 77th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extends warm wishes and emphasizes the need to fortify India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation during the Amrit Kaal.

    New Delhi, August 15, 2023 – In a message the Nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted his 140 crore ‘Pariwarjan’ (Family Members) and noted the trust in the country which is at an all time high. Addressing on the occasion of Independence Day, he urged citizens to join hands in propelling India towards its destiny as a developed nation.

    Taking to Twitter, he shared, “Best wishes on Independence Day. Let us use this historic moment in the Amrit Kaal to make the resolution of a developed India even stronger. Jai Hind!”

    Remembering the Freedom Fighters

    In a stirring address, Prime Minister Modi paid homage to the brave souls who participated in India’s struggle for independence. He recounted the pivotal role of figures like Mahatma Gandhi, who led the Non-Cooperation and Satyagraha Movements, and the sacrifices of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru, and countless other heroes. He emphasized that the determination for freedom ran deep within that generation, with nearly everyone contributing to the liberation movement.

    Milestones of the Year

    Drawing attention to significant milestones in his address to the nation on the eve of 77th Independence Day, Prime Minister Modi noted the conclusion of the 150th Jayanti year of revolutionary icon Sri Aurobindo. He also highlighted the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Dayanand, the 500th birth anniversary of Rani Durgawati, and the 525th year of Sant Meera Bai’s Bhakti Yog. He underlined the upcoming 75th Republic Day, stating that this juncture offers unparalleled opportunities for national progress and building a brighter future.

    Pledging Support for Manipur

    Speaking from the iconic Red Fort, Prime Minister Modi expressed his solidarity with the people of Manipur and conveyed optimism for a peaceful resolution to the region’s challenges. He acknowledged the past unrest and violence in Manipur, along with distressing reports of attacks on women’s dignity. The Prime Minister commended the recent efforts towards peace and urged for its continuity. He assured that both state and central governments are committed to addressing the issues and will work collaboratively to find solutions.
