The Ayodhya movement and the new temple festivities has ignited the business plans of OYO, a hospitality tech platform, which has announced plans to launch 400 properties in major spiritual destinations across India by the end of this year. The company is targeting popular domestic destinations like Ayodhya, Puri, Shirdi, Varanasi, and Amritsar. This move is aimed at catering to the growing demand for spiritual tourism in the country.

Key points about OYO’s plans include following the resurgence of Ayodhya Tourism

  • The company is focusing on spiritual tourism, which has become increasingly popular in recent years.
  • The firm plans to introduce 400 properties in major spiritual destinations, including Ayodhya, Varanasi, Tirupati, and others
  • The launch of these properties is expected to be completed by the end of this year

This expansion is likely to boost the hospitality sector in these spiritual hotspots, providing more accommodation options for visitors and pilgrims. To begin with the hospitality firm has selected key destinations including Ayodhya, Puri, Shirdi, Varanasi, Amritsar, Tirupati, Haridwar, Katra-Vaishno Devi, and the Char Dham route for the launch of its properties.

OYO’s decision to expand its presence in spiritual destinations, including ram temple region, is a response to a significant 350% increase in searches for Ayodhya on its platform over the past year. This surge is linked to the anticipation surrounding the opening of the Ram Mandir on January 22, 2024. Ritesh Agarwal, the Founder and Group CEO of OYO, has expressed optimism about the substantial growth potential in spiritual tourism, particularly in light of the major developments in Ayodhya. He has emphasized the transformative influence of religion and spirituality, with a focus on offering comfortable and affordable accommodation options for pilgrim
