Greenko, a leading clean energy transition and decarbonization solutions company, made history by supplying a total of 4950 KVA of clean energy to power the Greenko Hyderabad E-Prix 2023, India’s first-ever Formula E World Championship. The event, which was attended by over 20,000 spectators, showcased the power of sustainable energy and set a new standard for sustainable e-racing.
The event’s significance transcended the racetrack, as Greenko’s massive renewable energy project in Kurnool, which has solar, wind, and pumped storage capacities, also provided energy to power the historic racing event. This allowed for a reduction in the amount of energy that needed to be sourced from the grid, which is typically generated from non-renewable sources.
To minimize the carbon footprint of the event, the Greenko Hyderabad E-Prix incorporated several sustainability initiatives, including the Formula E drivers visiting Greenko’s Integrated Renewable Energy Project in Kurnool to raise awareness of decarbonization.
“The event showcases India’s leadership in energy transition and decarbonization, and Greenko’s work represents a significant step forward in making these aspirations a reality,” said a Greenko spokesperson.
Formula E Drivers amazed by Greenko Clean Energy Project in Andhra Pradesh
Formula E driver Sacha Fenestraz was particularly impressed by the scale of Greenko’s ambitious project, and the company’s impressive 7.3 GW portfolio that spans 15 different states. “Greenko’s vision is not only to meet India’s growing energy needs but also to make significant contributions to the world’s energy transition and decarbonization efforts,” added the spokesperson.
The Greenko Hyderabad E-Prix was a record-breaking event, with 11 different teams from around the world participating. The event was an excellent example of collaboration between the government, people, celebrities, and media, and it demonstrated the potential for sustainable e-racing to accelerate India’s clean energy drive.
The success of the Greenko Hyderabad E-Prix is a testament to Greenko’s commitment to developing intelligent renewable energy storage platforms and entering the green molecule sector to enable deeper decarbonization. With an installed renewable energy capacity of ~7.5 GW and a presence in 15 states in India, Greenko is a significant player in the world’s energy transition and decarbonization efforts.
“We believe that sustainable e-racing has enormous potential to accelerate the clean energy transition, and we are proud to be at the forefront of this movement,” said the Greenko spokesperson. “We look forward to continuing to collaborate with partners to make the world a more sustainable place.”

Greenko building – World’s Largest Gigawatt-Scale Integrated Renewables Project
The Pinnapuram Integrated Renewable Energy Project, which is set to become the world’s largest gigawatt-scale integrated renewable energy project. The Greenko project will consist of 1000 MW of solar, 550 MW of wind, and 1200 MW of standalone pumped storage capacities in its first phase, with the possibility of increasing capacities in subsequent phases.
The standalone pumped storage component of the project will be located in the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh and will include two reservoirs constructed in existing natural depressions. The project will also utilize non-consumptive re-utilization of one thousand million cubic feet (1 TMC) of water for recirculation among the proposed reservoirs.
The Pinnapuram IREP will supply schedulable power on demand (SPOD) to consumers across India, making it the first time that dispatchable and schedulable renewable energy will be available to Indian consumers. The project will allow for the reduction of energy sourced from non-renewable sources, minimizing the carbon footprint of the energy supply.
This project marks a significant step forward in India’s commitment to renewable energy and decarbonization, and will contribute significantly to the country’s clean energy goals. The Pinnapuram IREP will have a massive renewable energy portfolio, making it a key player in the energy transition and decarbonization efforts around the world.
Greenko’s vision is not only to meet India’s growing energy needs but also to make significant contributions to the world’s energy transition and decarbonization efforts.
