April 11, 2025: Essar Group’s GreenLine Mobility Solutions is taking bold steps toward a sustainable future with an ambitious plan to establish 100 LNG refuelling and EV charging stations across India. The initiative, aimed at achieving net-zero emissions in the logistics sector, is set to revolutionize India’s transport infrastructure, enabling the deployment of over 10,000 LNG-powered and electric trucks.
GreenLine’s game-changing move comes as the Indian government intensifies its efforts to combat climate change and reduce carbon emissions. The logistics industry, responsible for a significant chunk of the country’s emissions, is now facing increasing pressure to transition toward cleaner alternatives. GreenLine’s initiative is a response to this challenge and part of a larger vision to decarbonize India’s transportation sector.
The establishment of these 100 LNG and EV charging stations will create a comprehensive nationwide infrastructure network to support the heavy-duty truck fleet that GreenLine is looking to deploy. The new stations will be strategically positioned across key locations in India to provide seamless refuelling and charging access for both long-haul LNG trucks and short-haul electric vehicles (EVs).
The $275 million investment announced by GreenLine, which includes a significant contribution from Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath, is set to accelerate the transformation of India’s transportation ecosystem. The investment will enable the company to expand its operations, with plans to roll out 10,000 LNG and EV trucks in the coming years. The initiative is expected to cut 1 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually, in line with India’s goal to reduce its carbon footprint and reliance on fossil fuels.
GreenLine to Cut 1M Tonnes CO₂ with 10K LNG & EV Trucks

The Green Mobility Solutions trucks, which are already known for reducing carbon dioxide emissions by up to 30%, have proven their potential in cutting down environmental harm. The company currently operates a fleet of over 650 LNG trucks, which have already covered 38 million kilometers and saved an estimated 10,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
The Green Mobility Firm’s strategy goes beyond just reducing emissions. Their vision of net-zero logistics focuses on making the logistics industry not only more sustainable but also more economically viable. By leveraging LNG and electric vehicles, GreenLine ensures that customers can adopt green mobility solutions without incurring additional operational costs.
Anshuman Ruia, Director at Essar, expressed excitement about the initiative, saying, “We are not just transforming the logistics sector; we are laying the foundation for a greener, more energy-secure India. The transition to LNG and EV trucks is crucial not only for environmental reasons but also for reducing India’s dependency on imported fossil fuels.”
In addition to launching the LNG and EV stations, the firm is working on setting up a robust battery swapping infrastructure. This feature will further support the transition to electric trucks, providing a more efficient way to charge vehicles quickly and minimize downtime.
GreenLine is also committed to ensuring that its services remain cost-competitive, providing cost parity with diesel trucks. This pricing strategy makes the transition to clean energy logistics accessible for companies across industries like eCommerce, FMCG, chemicals, and metals and mining.
India’s government is pushing for a greener future, with a clear focus on sustainable transport solutions. The National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP) and the FAME India scheme (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles) are laying the groundwork for a more energy-efficient future. GreenLine’s move aligns perfectly with the government’s net-zero emissions target and the commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the transportation sector.
This initiative will likely prompt other logistics companies to follow suit, accelerating the adoption of LNG and electric mobility solutions across India.
The Road Ahead: GreenLine’s Future in India’s Net-Zero Revolution
As the world grapples with the challenges of climate change, GreenLine’s bold steps toward creating a sustainable, green logistics ecosystem represent a promising model for the future. With its planned infrastructure rollout and a fleet of cutting-edge trucks, GreenLine is not just setting an example but also empowering businesses to embrace cleaner technologies for a better, more sustainable tomorrow.
With this expansion, Essar’s GreenLine is positioning itself as a key player in India’s journey toward net-zero logistics, making it an important part of the nation’s efforts to build a cleaner, greener economy.
