Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in “Deadpool 3,” which will hit theatres on September 6, 2024.
Deadpool’s debut appearance as a Disney property will team up Reynolds and Jackman, who previously portrayed the “merc with a mouth” in multiple 20th Century Fox productions, according to a social media announcement.
“Hey everyone, we’re extremely sad to have missed D23, but we’ve been working very hard on the next ‘Deadpool’ film for a good long while now,” Reynolds said in the video, seated on his couch.
“Hey, Hugh, you want to play Wolverine one more time?” Reynolds asks as Jackman walks in the back of the shot.
“Yeah, sure Ryan,” Jackman replies. “I’ve had to really search my soul on this one. His first appearance in the MCU obviously needs to feel special. We need to stay true to the character, find new depth, motivation, meaning every Deadpool needs to stand out and stand apart. It’s been an incredible challenge that has forced me to reach down deep inside.”

Deadpool would be included in the MCU, according to a prior statement from Disney, but it was unknown when the character would receive a standalone movie and how it would fit into the Multiverse as a whole.
Disney acquired a number of comic book franchises when it acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019. Over the next few years, movies starring the Fantastic Four and the X-Men are also planned.
The Deadpool movies by Reynolds are uncommon in Hollywood. The R-rated films “Deadpool” and “Deadpool 2” each made more than $780 million worldwide. That’s most likely the reason Disney allowed “Deadpool 3” to have a R rating, despite the rest of the MCU movies only having PG-13 or lower ratings.
