December 25, 2025: Kiccha Sudeep return with Mark, a larger-than-life cop thriller aims to raise the stakes, but delivers a mix of highs and middling moments. The film follows SP Ajay Markandeya, a suspended police officer drawn back into action when a criminal gang kidnaps 18 children in the city.
Alongside the cop, a corrupt politician with eyes on the chief minister’s chair and a vengeful drug lord complicate the narrative. With multiple cases converging in just 24 hours, the plot promises a tense, fast-paced ride. On paper, it’s pulpy, thrilling, and cinematic. On screen, however, the story leans heavily on Sudeep’s star presence rather than building genuine suspense.
Mark Movie Review:
Sudeep, as Mark, remains the film’s anchor. His restrained intensity, body language, and punchy dialogues give fans the hero moments they crave. Yet, the frenzy that usually accompanies a “masala” action hero feels toned down. Most supporting characters, including Naveen Chandra and Shine Tom Chacko, serve functional purposes rather than leaving a lasting impression. Even Yogi Babu’s comic interludes feel more like filler than a meaningful addition.
Mark Review: Action, Style, but Less Thrill

Technically, Mark fares well. Shekar Chandra’s cinematography captures the cityscape and action sequences with flair, while Shivakumar’s art direction strengthens the film’s visual style. Ajaneesh Loknath’s background score enhances tension and heroism, though the editing could have been sharper given the number of subplots. Two energetic song sequences provide relief, but the film’s pacing occasionally dips under the weight of its sprawling narrative.
Comparisons with Max are inevitable. While Mark expands the canvas and features multiple antagonists, it lacks the freshness and tight execution that made the earlier film feel different. Kartikeyaa shows confidence in direction, but the story itself stays within predictable cop thriller territory. There’s little innovation, and the genre conventions, suspended cop, one-man army, timely heroics, remain firmly in place.

In the end, Mark is a Sudeep-centric action drama designed for mass entertainment. The film delivers on punch, style, and screen presence, but story enthusiasts might feel the thrill is slightly muted. Fans, however, will leave satisfied, cheering the hero’s every calculated move.
