July 21, 2025: Rishab Shetty’s much-awaited prequel Kantara Chapter 1 has wrapped filming after a massive 250-day shoot. The announcement came from Hombale Films, who marked the moment with a fierce new poster on Instagram, captioned: “Wrap Up… The Journey Begins…”
The film, directed by and starring Shetty, is set for a global theatrical release on October 2, in seven languages including Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, and English.
Described by the makers as a story “deeply rooted in our culture,” the prequel builds on the spiritual and mythological foundation that made Kantara a breakout success in 2022. That film not only catapulted Shetty to stardom but also earned him the National Award for Best Actor.
Kantara Chapter 1 “Our Most Ambitious Film Yet”
Producer Vijay Kiragandur called Kantara Chapter 1 Hombale Films’ most demanding project so far. “The scale, the effort, the emotion, this story is personal. It’s more than a film for us,” he said.
A recent birthday poster featuring Shetty wielding a battle axe and shield gave fans a glimpse into the intense role he’ll reprise in this mythic tale set in the forests of coastal Karnataka.
With the shoot now wrapped, all eyes are on October 2, when this chapter of folklore and fire hits the big screen worldwide.
