Actress Taapsee Pannu, portraying Manu in Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Dunki,’ unveiled an intriguing origin story, highlighting how it all commenced with a rumor that ultimately materialized into reality. Reflecting on the initial phone call she received for ‘Dunki,’ Pannu shared a tale marked by skepticism and surprise.
“The first call I received for ‘Dunki’ was actually quite funny for me because it was Raju Sir’s call, but by that time, the news had already circulated in many places that I was being considered for and doing the film. Like any other rumor, I thought this couldn’t possibly be true. It was the first time I had such a clear rumor about myself. I just thought, ‘Okay, let me be happy hearing this,'” Taapsee recounted.

However, the unexpected became reality when she received a call directly from Rajkumar Hirani. “But then I got a call from Sir. He said, ‘Well, the media has already revealed it, so I thought I might as well call and tell you,'” she added. Taapsee Pannu mentioned she was occupied shooting for a South Indian film when the call arrived and Hirani assured her that he would narrate the story upon her return.
“It was the only rumor that was not only good but also turned out to be true,” Taapsee expressed, reflecting on the intriguing turn of events that marked the beginning of her journey with ‘Dunki.’
With a notable debut in 2013 with ‘Chashme Baddoor,’ Taapsee Pannu has carved a niche for herself in the film industry. Known for her impactful performances in films like ‘Pink,’ ‘Naam Shabana,’ ‘Soorma,’ ‘Mulk,’ ‘Manmarziyaan,’ and ‘Thappad,’ she has showcased versatility in her roles.
