Amitabh Bachchan in his latest blog shared his memories and love fof HMV and the dog symbol that was synonymous with Music. Further, he wrote .. the emblem of its appearance was for long the HMV logo of the horn of the gramophone and the dog by its side – there is an explanation of it somewhere, explaining its design and presence, but the winding gramophone, the vinyl disc running at 73, the needle that was hand placed and the playing sound then enjoyed, shall ever be the most endearing imagery, possession, in the world that was, for me, almost 70 years ago ..

It was a large, state of the art gramophone, unlike some of the more usual ones we get to see .. a larger box-like compartment, almost 5′ in height, with an articulated lid that covered the placement spot of the vinyl, and by its side a handle that wound up the machine ..
For a long, I used to remember the tune that I often heard during those early years in Allahabad, played off it .. now age and memory loss has defeated me…
