The new President of India is all set to be declared. Going by the Presidential Election 2022 Result Live Updates, NDA candidate Droupadi Murmu, the NDA’s tribal woman candidate is leading over Yashwant Sinha after the first round of votes were counted in the 2022 presidential polls on Thursday.
Of the total 748 votes cast by the MPs, Murmu clinched 540 while Opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha got 208. India will soon know who will succeed Ram Nath Kovind to become the country’s 15th President, with the counting of votes for the recently-held Presidential election commencing at the Parliament House on Thursday morning.

If I include the earlier results of Parliament, the grand total so far is 1,886 valid votes valued at 6,73,175 out of which Droupadi Murmu gets 1,349 votes valued at 4,83,299. Yashwant Sinha gets 537 votes, valued at 1,89,876 so far: PC Mody, Secretary General, Rajya Sabha stated.
After 2nd round, where ballot paper of first 10 states alphabetically counted – total valid votes 1138 & their total value 1,49,575. Out of this, Droupadi Murmu gets 809 votes valued at 1,05,299 & Yashwant Sinha gets 329 votes valued at 44,276: PC Mody, Secretary Gen, Rajya Sabha
Going by the support extended by various parties, National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Droupadi Murmu has a clear edge over Opposition’s Yashwant Sinha in this election. If elected, Murmu will become the first tribal woman to occupy the top constitutional post in the country.
Voting for the Presidential polls concluded on Monday with over 99 per cent of 4,796 eligible electors, including 771 MPs and 4,025 MLAs, taking part in the process.
So, India is all set to get first tribal woman as the President of India.
