CWG 2022: Virendra Sehwag 'Hima Das Medal' fake video creates big uproar

CWG 2022: Virendra Sehwag created a huge uproar when e uploaded a fake video of Hima Das winning 400M India’s first gold at Common Wealth Gamed in Birmingham. To the shock of social media citizen it was not her, but the first medal came in Men’s 55kg Weightlifting event which was secured by Sanket Sargar.

Prior to removing the message, the former India opener posted a tweet on social media thanking Hima Das on her gold medal in the 400-meter race at the Commonwealth Games 2022.

Indian Twitter is on fire and celebrating with congratulatory tweets for Hima Das as she ‘won the first gold in CWG 2022’ for India. A viral video showing a spirited Hima Das running her way to Gold with a certain Romanian getting silver was shared by eminent names like Virender Sehwag.

There have been over 10,000 likes and 2,000 retweets for the aforementioned video. Everyone is tweeting this video, from verified accounts to government representatives. The only issue here is that Birmingham CWG 2022’s Hima Das event hasn’t even begun yet. Ironically, Sanket Sargar, an Indian weightlifter, was the one to bring home India’s first medal at the 2022 CWG.

The video from the 2018 Junior Championship, when Hima Das became the first Indian to win a gold medal in any international track competition, is the one that is most frequently shared and trending on Twitter. Hima set a record in the 400 m final with a time of 51.46 seconds. The Assamese athlete will compete for India in the women’s 4*100 metre relay at the Commonwealth Games 2022 on August 3, 2022.
