The electric car revolution is picking up steam worldwide, and India made history by successfully hosting the first ever Formula E Greenko Hyderabad E-Prix in Hyderabad on 12th of February 2023.
As part of their preparations earlier, the Nissan Formula E Team drivers, Norman Nato and Sacha Fenestraz, visited an Integrated Renewable Energy Project (IREP) by Greenko, one of the world’s leading companies in energy transition and decarbonization solutions.
The visit began with Greenko officials speaking about the significance of decarbonizing sectors and reducing the world’s carbon emissions. They emphasized the company’s commitment to providing renewable energy storage solutions to meet the country’s growing energy demands. Norman and Sacha were then taken on a tour of the Greenko facility, where they were impressed with the company’s 7.3 GW portfolio that covers 15 different states.
Formula E Drivers Sacha and Nato fascinated by Greenko Project
Sacha was fascinated by the scale of Greenko’s ambitious project and the work already carried out to build the Integrated Renewable Energy Project at Kurnool. When asked about the upcoming Formula E race in India, he said, “I’m really excited about being in Hyderabad. None of the drivers have raced here before, so it levels the playing field a bit for me as a rookie. We’ve been putting in the hours to be ready for the race, getting used to the track in the simulator, so hopefully, we can hit the ground running.”
Norman Nato expressed his excitement, “It’s always exciting to be in a new venue and discover a new track, so I’m really looking forward to the weekend.” Both drivers are confident that this will be a successful Formula E race and the beginning of a new era of electric racing in India.
At the end of the visit, the drivers left with a clear understanding of how renewable energy is playing a critical role in India’s decarbonization journey. Norman appreciated the company’s dedication to providing clean energy solutions to meet the country’s growing energy demands and its contribution to a cleaner and more sustainable future.
Greenko, on the other hand, is working on pumped storage projects across the country in line with its vision of developing 100+ GWh connected Digitized Cloud Storage across India by 2027 through Intelligent Renewable Energy Storage Platforms.
