ODI Batting Rankings has a new shining batting star. India’s Shubman Gill has achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the No. 1 batter in the ICC Men’s ODI Rankings, overtaking Pakistan’s Babar Azam.

Gill, who has scored 1449 runs in 26 ODIs this year, including four centuries and a double-hundred, has 830 rating points, six more than Babar. He is only the fourth Indian player to reach the top spot in ODI batting Rankings , after Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli.

Gill’s rise to the top reflects India’s dominant performance at the World Cup 2023, where they have won all their eight league matches so far.

Gill missed the initial part of the tournament due to dengue, but has since scored 219 runs in six innings, with two fifties against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
