Mumbai, April 15, 2025 — Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is once again the target of a chilling death threat. This time, the threat came via WhatsApp, with a disturbing message promising to blow up the actor’s car and storm his residence. Mumbai Police launched a swift investigation and have traced the origin of the threat to a 26-year-old man in Vadodara, Gujarat, who was found to be mentally unstable.
The message, sent to the Mumbai Traffic Police’s WhatsApp helpline, sparked immediate concern given Khan’s history of security threats, including a firing incident in 2024 and multiple warnings from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
The WhatsApp message, sent on Sunday, directly threatened Salman Khan, who enjoys Y-Plus category security cover. The sender claimed he would plant a bomb in Khan’s car and assault him inside his Bandra residence.
Authorities responded swiftly. The Worli Police registered a case under Section 351(2)(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for criminal intimidation, and security was immediately ramped up outside Khan’s residence at Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai.
According to Vadodara Superintendent of Police Rohan Anand, a joint team from Mumbai Police and Waghodia Police traced the message to a man named Mayank Pandya, residing in a village in Waghodia taluka of Vadodara district.
Upon visiting his home, officers found that Pandya is mentally unstable and undergoing psychiatric treatment. He was not arrested but has been served a legal notice to appear for questioning as needed during the investigation.
“He is currently undergoing treatment. Based on preliminary findings, he does not pose an organized threat, but due legal procedure is being followed,” a senior official confirmed.
A Pattern of Escalating Threats Haunts Salman Khan
This latest scare comes on the heels of serious attempts on Khan’s life. In April 2024, gunmen on motorcycles fired four rounds outside his residence, leading to a high-level probe. Investigations later revealed the Lawrence Bishnoi gang had allegedly plotted to kill Khan during one of his trips to his Panvel farmhouse.
Salman Khan’s alleged involvement in the blackbuck poaching case has previously drawn the ire of the Bishnoi community, further fueling the threat landscape around him.
Despite the suspect’s mental condition, police are taking no chances. Khan’s home continues to be under enhanced security surveillance, and intelligence agencies are closely monitoring all developments.
