The Indian Government is committed to quickening the process and broadening the reach of COVID-19 vaccine across the nation. The national COVID 19 vaccination campaign began on January 16, 2021.
More than 200.34 crore (2,00,34,16,975) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Govt. of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category.

On June 21, 2021, the COVID-19 vaccination programme entered a new phase. By making more vaccinations available, giving States and UTs earlier notice of vaccine availability so they may prepare ahead, and streamlining the vaccine supply chain, the immunisation effort has been stepped up.
Government of India has been helping the States and UTs by offering them COVID Vaccines free of charge as part of the nationwide vaccination programme. The Union Government will purchase and provide (without of charge) 75% of the vaccines needed for the COVID19 vaccination drive’s new phase.
More than 6.80 Cr (6,80,30,080) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered.
