Earthquake in Jaipur: In a seismic event that shook the capital city of Rajasthan, Jaipur, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported an earthquake of magnitude 4.4 on the Richter scale.
The quake occurred at 4.09 am on July 21, 2023, approximately 9 kilometers away from Jaipur, at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the NCS.
Shortly after, at 4.22 am, an aftershock measuring 3.1 magnitude was also recorded, as mentioned by the NCS.
News of the tremors quickly spread through social media, with citizens sharing their experiences and expressing concerns for their safety. Murari Lal Meena, the minister for tourism and civil aviation in Rajasthan, took to Twitter to reassure the public, saying, “Earthquake in Jaipur. I hope you all are safe!”
Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje, also tweeted about the tremors, stating, “Earthquake tremors have been felt at other places in the state, including Jaipur. I hope you all are safe!”
Earthquake in Jaipur Update
Rameshwar Singh shared a video on social media captured by a CCTV camera, showing the sudden reaction of street dogs to the earthquake. The video highlighted the unexpected nature of the seismic event.
Despite the initial panic among residents, there were no reported casualties or damages to properties resulting from the earthquake in Jaipur and its aftershock. People were seen rushing out of their homes in parts of the city as the ground shook, and several photos surfaced on social media showing individuals gathered outside buildings.
As authorities continue to monitor the situation, residents are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions in the aftermath of the earthquake. The NCS is likely to conduct further assessments to ascertain the impact of the seismic activity in Jaipur and its surrounding areas.
