This event hosted in Hyderabad, by the Government of Telangana is of a greater millet community significance, held on Friday, brought together industry leaders, innovators, and government officials in a celebration of food processing and the nutritional wonders of millets.
The Millet Incubation Center, a beacon of innovation and nutritional excellence, stands as a testament to Telangana’s commitment to the global food processing landscape. Supported under the Prime Minister Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, this center is poised to revolutionize the food industry by promoting the nutritional value and versatility of millets.

A Millet Extravaganza
Telangana’s Millet Incubation Center boasts a wide array of processing facilities, encompassing primary and secondary millet processing, extrusion lines for vermicelli, pasta, and noodles, bakery lines, and a puffing line.
With an investment of Rs. 268.76 Lakhs from the Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU), this expansion aims to double the number of entrepreneurs benefiting from these state-of-the-art facilities.
Today, ‘nutri-cereals’ or ‘Shree Anna,’ have gained recognition for their exceptional nutritional content, including essential elements like calcium, zinc, iron, and a low glycemic index. The Millet Incubation Center is set to cater to the surging demand for ready-to-eat, ready-to-cook, and ready-to-serve millet products. It will introduce cutting-edge technology for value-added items such as biscuits, pasta, noodles, and more, all under the brand “MILLET-PLUS.”
Telangana Joins World Food India as State Partner, Propelling Food Processing Industry to New Heights
Telangana has emerged as a pivotal player in the food processing industry, contributing an impressive 12.5% to the value of agricultural products. The state is renowned for processing a quarter of its agricultural output, including iconic products like Banaganapalle Mangoes, Hyderabad Haleem, and Tandur Redgram, all bestowed with Geographical Indication Tags.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MOFPI), the state government is actively expanding into agro-processing clusters, cold chain infrastructure, and warehousing to bolster the food value chain development.

Telangana’s participation as a State Partner at the upcoming World Food India event in New Delhi from November 3rd to 5th, 2023, is a golden opportunity for startups and small businesses.
