Saturday, May 23, 2026: The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has released detailed guidelines for the BHAVYA Scheme, a major initiative to boost Indiaโ€™s manufacturing sector.

The scheme will see the development of 100 industrial parks across the country between 2026โ€“27 and 2031โ€“32, with a financial outlay of โ‚น33,660 crore. In the first phase, up to 50 parks will be selected through a competitive challenge process.

BHAVYA is designed to create investment-ready industrial ecosystems with plug-and-play infrastructure, multimodal logistics, reliable utilities, worker housing, and digital governance systems. Both greenfield and brownfield projects will be eligible, with minimum land requirements set at 100 acres for non-hilly states and 25 acres for hilly and northeastern regions.

BHAVYA Projects will be implemented through Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs), ensuring accountability and long-term maintenance. The National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) has been named as the Project Management Agency.

The guidelines also emphasize sustainability, renewable energy, skill development, and convergence with other government initiatives like Make in India and PM Gati Shakti.

Officials say the scheme will attract large-scale manufacturing investments, strengthen supply chains, generate jobs, and enhance Indiaโ€™s role in global value chains.
